At The Benson-Henry Institute For Mind Body Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, I received certification to deliver their world renowned program for Stress Management and Resiliency Training. (SMART) In 2017, at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition® New York, N.Y., I learned innovative treatment methods, practical lifestyle management techniques and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics and everything in between. As a Certified Health Coach I came to understand the term, food=mood.  Using over 18 years of experience, education, and direct patient contact gave me the inspiration to develop wellness modules for my clients at Restore Body Balance to not only integrate into my programs but to take home and use for a lifetime. It was a necessary compliment to my psychotherapy practice where clients want more than a prescription for medication...they want improvement in overall health.

Here I not only learned psychological theories but strong consideration for cognitive behavioral methods and mindfulness practices. I went on to work with co-occurring disorders as a staff clinician at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Those with depression and anxiety self-medicating with drugs, alcohol or other methods finally had relief when we incorporated meditation and relaxation therapies along with traditional and holistic methods. My experience overseas in China, Indonesia, Nepal, Europe and other places abroad granted me time in monasteries, temples and learning from true leaders of alternative therapies.

Benson-Henry Institute SMART-Certified Healthcare Practitioner

The SMART Program (Stress Management And Resiliency Training) was developed by the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The 8-week SMART program is a Mind Body Program for health and resiliency.  The SMART Program will help you develop self-care tools to manage your stress, reduce medical symptoms and enhance your quality of life.  SMART can help improve many medical conditions including anxiety, asthma and allergies, chronic pain, headaches and migraines and more.

You'll learn how to recognize your personal response to stress and how to use meditative techniques to help elicit the Relaxation Response.  Discover how to change thought patterns and your emotional outline along with techniques to improve eating habits, sleep and physical activity.
